Sept '22: Last Chance to Back The Fox Experiment on Kickstarter!
The Kickstarter for my new game, The Fox Experiment, is going great! Thank you so much to those of you who are among the almost 6,000 supporters so far. There are just a few days left if you want to pledge — it ends September 30.

Game Updates
The Fox Experiment
The Fox Experiment is inspired by an experiment in Russia that bred foxes into something close to domesticated dogs. The game is played over a series of rounds in which you select foxes, breed them by rolling and arranging dice, and fill out a dry-erase card to represent your new pup. Then the pups become the parents for the next round! The right foxes will help you make upgrades, complete studies, and please your sponsors, gaining you points to win the game.
You can back it on Kickstarter now! It’s also fine to wait and get it when it comes out in retail next year. However, as of right now, the only way to get the 5-6 player expansion and some fancier player pieces is to back the Kickstarter. (This makes me a little sad, because the fact that much of the game is simultaneous play makes it great at 6 players. Alas, dice are heavy and expensive.)
Wingspan
The Asia expansion is still on track to come out this fall, along with an optional big box designed to hold all Wingspan content. I expect Stonemaier will start sharing details soon. You can sign up to be notified when they’re ready via this signup form, and I’ll probably send another email, too. In the meantime, here are a couple more cards that we’ve shared:
Upcoming Events
Paula Deming and Matthew Jude will be streaming a playthrough of The Fox Experiment Tuesday at 9:30 am Pacific/12:30 Eastern. They’re both really funny, so it should be a good one!
Miscellaneous media
I did an AMA on the r/Boardgames Subreddit, where I answered questions for 3 hours straight!
I was on the Keith Law Show.
Wingspan stumped the contestants on University Challenge, a long-running quiz program on British TV.
I’m mesmerized by Jake Blount’s new album, The New Faith, an Afrofuturist concept album rooted in spirituals and old-time Americana. You can listen to two tracks on his website.
Critter of the month: Boogie-Woogie Aphids
I wish Substack would let me post videos, because you need to see these aphids dancing. I see them almost every time I’m in the woods at this time of year and they are a delight every single time. The official name is Beech blight aphid (even more official is Grylloprociphilus imbricator), but once you’ve heard that some people call them the Boogie-woogie aphid, how can you call them anything else?
May you find the boogie in your life —
❤️
